About Me
Dear Folks -Many thanks for visiting our page ! We are Mayur & Priya - Mumbai based professionals with running as a keen hobby . We are participating in the 2024 Tata Mumbai Marathon - our 16th so far ! We will be running 42 kms in support of the Ummeed Child Development Centre. Founded in 2001, Ummeed works with children and families with diverse conditions such as autism, cerebral palsy, down syndrome, intellectual disability, learning disability, and more.
As we run the marathon- this little fundraiser could help little children with additional support to lead a fuller life. That would be the most fulfilling outcome of the marathon! Look forward to your support- every little matters !
Appeal
I have been lucky to be blessed with a loving family , a good education & access to opportunities that have helped me in my life . As I look around , I do believe that in India , thousands of children are not able to fulfil their immense potential . They are adversely impacted by circumstances beyond their control ; very early into their lives . It is only fair that we give them an opportunity to get ahead and meaningfully contribute to society !
Ummeed Child Development Centre is an NGO , founded in 2001 ,primarily engaged in helping children with developmental disabilities (Autism , Down syndrome , learning disabilities) to fulfil their potential & help integrate better into society .
What started off as a clinic offering direct therapy services to disabled children and their families, is now actively investing in training and capacity building of professionals (doctors, therapists, teachers, community workers) and caregivers. There is need for a larger number of skilled resources in the country that children and families can access. Since inception, their overall reach is about 0.43 million children and families across India. However, there are nearly 50 million children with and at risk of disabilities in India and hence Ummeed’s work remains critical.
The above projects are being sustained by contributions by noble individuals as yourselves . I know the key individuals running the said NGO and can 100 % endorse the great work that they do ! I am personally seeking your kindness & support towards the cause .
