About Me
About the NGO :
Seva is a transformative initiative set up in 2015 dedicated to supporting tribal communities, the true guardians of nature, by creating sustainable livelihood opportunities while preserving their deep connection with the environment. Through various programs—such as tailoring unit, computer literacy center, workshops, and tribal kitchen—we empower these indigenous groups with skills and resources to thrive in a changing world. Our ultimate vision is to build sanctuaries that protect both tribal heritage and wildlife, fostering a harmonious coexistence between humans and nature. Our initiatives have uplifted 35-40 tribal women and benefited 250 tribal families living inside SGNP and Aarey colony.
2. About the Program
Seva’s Tailoring Unit
Seva’s tailoring unit is a growing initiative that empowers women through sustainable livelihoods. At present, we have 35–40 tribal women employed, each contributing their skills and dedication to producing beautiful handmade products. As we expand, our vision is to employ even more women, filling in the gaps and creating opportunities for those who need them most.
What We Do
• Crafting handmade bags (sling bags, tote bags, laptop bags, utility pouches etc.) with care and precision.
• Providing women with steady income and skill development.
• Building a community of artisans who take pride in their work.
This year, our fundraising focus is especially urgent. The government forest authorities have asked us to vacate our tailoring unit at SGNP, which means we may have to shift operations. This directly impacts the livelihoods of tribal women who depend on the unit for sustainable income. Your support will help us relocate the unit, expand capacity, and set up a new place so that these women can continue to build dignified futures. Please find attached the Tailoring Unit Project Proposal.
Appeal
I would like to extend my support to Seva Charitable Trust, an organization doing commendable work in the areas of sustainability and livelihood generation.
Seva Charitable Trust upcycles fabric collected from factory waste and converts it into useful, high-quality products. This initiative not only prevents textile waste from reaching landfills but also contributes meaningfully to environmental conservation.
Currently, 50 tribal women are gainfully employed through this initiative. For these women, this work has become a steady source of livelihood, enabling them to support their families and ensure their children’s education with dignity and independence.
With additional fundraising support through the Tata Marathon, Seva Charitable Trust will be able to employ many more tribal women, expanding livelihood opportunities and strengthening the community further. Increased support will allow more women to come forward, gain skills, and become financially self-reliant.
By supporting Seva Charitable Trust, we are contributing to a cause that seamlessly blends waste reduction, women empowerment, and sustainable development, creating long-term social and environmental impact.
