About Me

I am Dr. Mahesh Shitole, practicing in the village of Tasgaon for the past 25 years. My running journey began in 2015, inspired by a close friend who regularly participated in various marathons. Watching his dedication encouraged and motivated me to step out of my comfort zone and try running myself.

What started as a simple attempt to stay active slowly transformed into a powerful source of discipline, fitness, and inner strength. Running reshaped not only my lifestyle but also my mindset. At the age of 48, I discovered a new version of myself—stronger, energetic, and more determined than ever.

Over the years, I continued to participate in multiple marathons, improving step by step while balancing my medical profession and personal life. The joy of crossing every finish line, meeting fellow runners, and inspiring others in my community keeps me going. Today, running is not just a hobby—it is a part of who I am.

Dear friends and supporters,

I am excited to share with you a cause close to my heart, supporting the work of the Children’s Movement for Civic Awareness (CMCA), an organisation with 25 years of dedicated service in citizenship and life-skills education across India.

At CMCA, our mission is to transform young people into concerned, thoughtful, and active citizens. Through experiential learning, children not only learn about values like empathy, responsibility, and participation, they live them, reflect, and act together to bring change in their communities.

This year, I am raising funds to support CMCA’s “My Library for a Better Me” programme - an inspiring initiative that transforms rural Gram Panchayat libraries into vibrant learning spaces. Here, children aged 12–16 explore books, life-skills, creativity, and community action under the guidance of trained mentors. It’s a safe, joyful place where they grow into confident, curious, and compassionate citizens.

Every step I take in this marathon is my commitment to stand for positive change and civic education for children. I invite you to join me in this journey, every contribution, big or small, helps nurture these libraries and the young minds they serve.
