About Me

Guided by the philosophy of Swami Vivekananda - “They alone live who live for others, the rest are more dead than alive”.
I am Hiralchandra Maru, a development practitioner who has spent the last several years working at the intersection of philanthropy, government, and grassroots organisations to strengthen rural India. My journey—from early work in village communities to my current role at A.T.E. Chandra Foundation—has convinced me that real change happens when communities are trusted as partners, not beneficiaries, and when solutions are rooted in local knowledge, dignity, and sustainability.
I believe in regenerative development: work that restores ecosystems, empowers people to lead their own progress, and builds institutions that last beyond any one project or person.

Appeal

Over the last decade, working closely with rural communities, governments, and philanthropy has shown me how the right support at the right time can fundamentally change lives. NGOs often stand in the gap where public systems and markets struggle to reach the most vulnerable, bringing last-mile solutions in education, livelihoods, health, and dignity.
As a development professional, I have seen that when communities are trusted, organized, and equipped, they create their own pathways out of poverty and exclusion. Supporting NGOs is therefore not charity for me, but an investment in local leadership, social justice, and climate-resilient futures for India’s villages.
TMM 2026 gives me a chance to convert my own privilege, networks, and love for running into tangible impact on the ground, and I am grateful for every supporter who joins this journey.

I am proud to support **Arunoday Sansthan**, which for over **25 years** has been working at the grassroots in Bundelkhand to address drought, poverty, and inequality. Their efforts have positively impacted **more than 10,000 households**, restored and improved livelihoods across **over 6,000 hectares of land**, and promoted natural farming and water conservation for long-term resilience. Alongside this, Arunoday Sansthan has enabled **over 100 girls from poor and marginalized families** to pursue higher education, creating lasting social change. I stand with this journey of dignity, sustainability, and hope for a stronger future.

Have seen you actually work on ground and make impact. Hope our small contribution helps the campaign you are supporting at some extent.
