About Me

I am Sachin Nikam, a farmer from Karandi village. My running journey started because of my daughter—she began participating in different sports activities, and to motivate her and be part of her growth, I started running. What began as a way to inspire her has transformed me into an athlete at the age of 45.

Over the years, I have run multiple marathons and secured podium finishes several times. My journey progressed step by step, beginning with 10 km, then 21 km, 35 km, and eventually the full 42 km marathon.

I use my running journey to inspire people from rural areas, showing them that age and background are not barriers to achieving fitness goals

Dear friends and supporters,

I am excited to share with you a cause close to my heart, supporting the work of the Children’s Movement for Civic Awareness (CMCA), an organisation with 25 years of dedicated service in citizenship and life-skills education across India.

At CMCA, our mission is to transform young people into concerned, thoughtful, and active citizens. Through experiential learning, children not only learn about values like empathy, responsibility, and participation, they live them, reflect, and act together to bring change in their communities.

This year, I am raising funds to support CMCA’s “My Library for a Better Me” programme - an inspiring initiative that transforms rural Gram Panchayat libraries into vibrant learning spaces. Here, children aged 12–16 explore books, life-skills, creativity, and community action under the guidance of trained mentors. It’s a safe, joyful place where they grow into confident, curious, and compassionate citizens.

Every step I take in this marathon is my commitment to stand for positive change and civic education for children. I invite you to join me in this journey, every contribution, big or small, helps nurture these libraries and the young minds they serve.
