About Me
Dear Reader,
Thanks for stopping by to support this journey! I’m Prerana (Pre), a Mumbai girl at heart now living between the U.S. and India. This January, I'm coming home for the Mumbai Marathon to celebrate something truly profound. Over the last year, I watched both my Ajis (grandmothers), in their 70s, face cancer. Their radical optimism (and access to world-class care) helped them win. Now, I'm taking on a terrifying challenge to provide that same fighting chance to those who lack the resources for even subsidized medical care.
The Problem: This isn't just about my Ajis' victory; it's about the stark global reality.
- While cancer is more common in wealthier nations, it is 2.7 times more deadly in India than in high-income countries.
- For a low-income family, cancer is not just a medical battle—it's a financial death sentence, with treatment costs often soaring to 10 times their annual income. This is a devastating crisis of access.
I've never run a 10K / Marathon in my life, and the last time I tried, I ended up with a fracture! But this time, it's not about speed or perfection. It's about collective impact and awareness. I'm officially signed up for the 10K run at the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2026, but here's our challenge as a community:
>> Help me reach INR 3,00,000 (about $3,385 USD) for the Tata Memorial Centre and I will double my effort and run the 21K Half-Marathon instead of the 10K!. That distance is terrifying, but its exciting to hope that we help save another life!
Your Donation is Direct Life Support for Patients at Tata Memorial Centre:
Every rupee contributes directly to critical care:
INR 500 / $5.64: Someone's first consultation.
INR 50,000 / $564: A full chemo cycle.
INR 1,00,000 / $1,128: A life-saving surgery.
My Ajis got their miracle, and we got the gift of more time with them. Let's make sure more people do too.
Join me in turning hope into action by:
- Direct Donations
- Sharing the Campaign within your network.
- Sending a Motivation Video to help me clock another mile in practice!
Together, we can ensure that another family gets the gift of a lifetime: a fighting chance
With Love and Gratitude,
- Pre
Appeal
Running my first marathon, to raise INR 3,00,000 (~$3,384.50 USD) for the Tata Memorial Centre (Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai), India’s leading cancer care and research institute.
IMPORTANT PART: If we cross the INR 3,00,000 (~$3,384.50 USD) target, I’ll upgrade to the Half Marathon (21.7km/ 13 miles) ! Honestly, I absolutely HATE running, but I’ll push myself further to honor every patient, caregiver, and survivor who keeps fighting with courage and hope.
Funds raised through this campaign will help:
1. Support treatment costs for underprivileged patients
2. Procure critical medical equipment
3. Fund training, infrastructure, and cancer research
So, please donate or share, every contribution helps someone get closer to one recovery prescription! Together, we can make every step count.
