About Me
Hello, I’m Dhanashree, and I’ve been volunteering for street dogs since 2011 , particularly for WSD’s First Aid Programme. Every Sunday, volunteers meet outside Eros Theatre, a 29-year tradition started by Abodh Aras, that brings together people from all walks of life who care for the city’s dogs & cats.
Apart from the licks & wags, what keeps this bond strong are the humble tea sellers, bhelwalas and local caretakers who offer us their snacks. You don’t try to pay them; it’s their dignity, their way of saying thank you to us for caring for their furry babies.
More than the dogs needing us, we need them too. They’ve kept us grounded and humbled.
Appeal
WSD’s on-site first aid program treats injured street dogs and cats in their own habitat, saving resources, reducing response time, and freeing hospital space. Wounds are treated on-site, with follow-ups until full recovery. A mobile ambulance with a veterinarian also does the rounds where medical intervention is required.
All treatments are free of cost. Your support helps us reach and heal more animals in distress.
Some of our dogs are marathon runners too! Sadly, we lost two of our regular runners this year, but many new paws will take up the spots soon!
