About Me
I am Pooja Prajapati, facilitator and coordinator at Shodhak Community Library. I have been working in Navnirmity for the past 2 years, conducting daily reading sessions, creative activities, and drama for children and their parents. Our aim is to promote literacy, creativity, and community engagement among children in Phule Nagar Basti.
Appeal
Shodhak Community Library, located in Phule Nagar Basti, is a free community library where we conduct daily sessions for children and their parents. We plan the themes and objectives a month in advance, and based on these, we prepare and conduct structured lesson plans.
The library offers book reading sessions, related activities, drama sessions based on the books (conducted monthly), and games, all closely linked to the themes and content of the books. Our sessions include:
Before the discussion: Children share their personal experiences related to the story.
During the story: The story is explained, and key points are highlighted.
After the story: Free reading sessions allow children to read independently.
Each child has a library card, where they record the books they read daily. The library also celebrates special days and events, enhancing children’s creative engagement and learning experience.
