About Me

I am a Professor and Physician in the Department of Preventive Oncology at Tata Memorial Hospital, Parel. I have worked at the grassroots level to make cancer prevention accessible, particularly among marginalized communities and led landmark trials that shaped national cancer control policies. My work focuses on empowering communities through awareness, cancer screening, and tobacco cessation. Witnessing the life-changing impact of early detection and prevention is what excites me and aligns me towards this marathon.

Running for a Cancer-Free Mumbai
“Every step is a step toward saving lives.”
Cancer is a leading cause of death in India. But up to one-third of cancer deaths are preventable through early detection. Through this marathon, I am raising funds to support community-based cancer awareness, screening, and tobacco cessation initiatives across Mumbai.
Fundraising Goal: Rs.25,00,000
Your support will help to strengthen and expand:
• Screening for common cancers (oral, breast, cervical) among high-risk and underserved populations
• Tobacco cessation clinics and counselling services
• Community cancer awareness programmes
All contributions directly support outreach community based initiatives through Tata Memorial Centre.

• 1.5 lakh+ urban slum women
• 60,000+ police personnel
• 25,000+ residents across Mumbai wards
• 10,000+ rural women
• 5,000+ tribal women
• Hundreds of health workers
