About Me

I’m Anisha, and I work at The Convergence Foundation. Growing up in a girls’ school, sports were never a big part of my life. I remember how the boys used to play outside, while we mostly stayed indoors. It wasn’t until I was in class 11th that my parents encouraged me to try swimming — just to stay active during long study hours. At first, it was just a way to stay fit, but slowly, swimming became more than a hobby. In college, with better infrastructure and a growing support system, I really began to embrace it.

Today, fitness and sports are an integral part of my life. I’ve gone from swimming to participating in triathlons, half marathons and of course open water swimming. I cherish the community, discipline, and confidence that it brings. Through my journey, I also had the privilege of meeting inspiring leaders like Corina Van Dam - through whom I got introduced to Maitrayana, whose mission to empower women through sports left a lasting impression on me.

Appeal

I believe every girl deserves the opportunity to experience the transformative power of sports — not just as a way to stay active, but as a path to confidence, resilience, and lifelong well-being. Unfortunately, many girls in India don’t get the chance to engage in sports early on due to cultural barriers, lack of access, mentors, and safe environments.

That’s why we are raising funds to help change this narrative. Your support will provide young women with access to sports infrastructure, quality mentorship, and a supportive community, empowering them to pursue sports from a young age and build confidence that carries into every part of their lives.

Join us in breaking barriers and making sports a natural part of every girl’s journey. Every contribution helps open the door to a stronger, healthier, and more confident future for the next generation of women.
