About Me
At Ekam Foundation Mumbai, our mission is clear and unwavering — to ensure every child and community member, regardless of their background, has access to quality healthcare and education. This year, through the TMM Fundraiser 2026, we are proud to spotlight a transformative new initiative: a partnership to address avoidable blindness in Maharashtra, starting with the establishment of the Chaitanyam Eye Care Institute in Kolhapur.
In collaboration with Sweekriti Sociocare Foundation, this facility is set to become a beacon of hope for thousands suffering from preventable blindness, especially in underserved rural areas. With free cataract surgeries, school-based screenings, and mobile clinics, this program aims to restore sight — and with it, opportunity, dignity, and independence — to thousands of individuals.
Blindness due to cataracts is entirely curable, yet it continues to rob lakhs of people, especially the elderly and underserved, of their sight and livelihood. The launch of Chaitanyam Eye Care Institute in Kolhapur is not just about providing medical treatment — it's about restoring vision, restoring hope, and empowering communities.
With our planned outreach across five blocks of Kolhapur, and eye screenings for over 14,000 school children, this initiative will directly address both preventive and curative aspects of eye care. We aim to perform 4,000 free cataract surgeries each year, absolutely free of cost for the patients — something that can change the course of a family’s future.
Your support can help us bring this vision to life. Whether by sponsoring a pair of free spectacles for Rs 500/- or a single cataract surgery for Rs. 5,000 or contributing to the construction of a medical ward, every rupee brings us closer to a Maharashtra where no one is left in the dark due to poverty.
Together, let us give the gift of sight — and with it, a chance at a better life.
