About Me

Dr. V S Parthasarathy has over 37+ years of rich experience wherein he has successfully led businesses, functions, organization transformations and over 125 M&A transactions. He is on the board of several listed and unlisted companies. He is an Independent Director on Life Insurance Corporation (LIC), NIIT MTS a Edutech Listed company and Pennar Industries. He is on the Boards of companies on path to being unicorn+ IPO like Cloudnine Hospitals, Car Dekho, Greencell Mobility, to mention a few. He was on the board of Governors of IIM Mumbai (earlier NITIE). He also coaches and mentors Startups.

He started his career with Modi Xerox and rose to a position of Associate Director, serving across multiple positions and locations.  In Mahindra Group, where he served more than two decades, his last role was as the President of Mobility Services Sector. Prior to that, he was the Group CFO & Group CIO for seven years. Additionally, he has served as a member of the Mahindra Group Executive Board and been on the board of several listed companies. 

He actively engages in several philanthropic initiatives aimed at empowering women through education, employment, and entrepreneurship under the aegis of SEWA (Self-Employed Women’s Association). He also serves as an Independent Director on two of SEWA’s enterprises, namely Rudi and GTNFW, where he plays the role of a mentor and provides strategic advisory support. In addition, he facilitates collaborations to help expand and scale up the businesses of these enterprises.
 
He has received Lifetime Achievement Awards for his CFO and CIO roles, as also the Business World - Yes Bank Hall of Fame Award; Best CFO of India Award by IMA Corporate Excellence Awards; Digital Icon of India Award by HPE; and CIO 100 – Hall of Fame by CIO after winning the awards for four consecutive years.  He is a Chartered Accountant from ICAI, India and ICAEW, UK and an alumnus of Harvard Business School’s AMP (2011). He recently completed his PhD from Mumbai university. He recently co authored a book on M&A titled “The Anatomy of M&A”

Appeal

My commitment to women’s economic empowerment comes from a deeply personal place. Growing up in a lower middle–class family, I experienced firsthand how the support of others can change the course of a life. Those early acts of kindness helped shaped my values — and today, I am determined to pay it forward while I am still active and able.

To do so, I took early retirement with a clear intention: to give back meaningfully. I firmly believe that women and men are equals, and that India’s progress depends on the full participation of its women in the workforce. When every woman is empowered and productive, India’s GDP can grow by nearly 25% — a future I want to help build.

My journey of giving began with supporting girls’ education through “Nanhi Kali,” because I believe that strong, confident women begin with strong, quality education.

And now I am supporting SEWA, an organisation whose mission aligns with my own values — empowering women economically, socially, culturally, mentally, and politically. For me, SEWA represents a path to strengthening millions of women so they can stand tall, earn with dignity, and lead change in their communities.

So I would like to request you all to support me in my journey of "Paying Forward". This year, I will be running the Mumbai Marathon for SEWA sisters... There are multiple ways your support could help them... there are a bouquet of opportunities how you can strengthen the lives and livelihoods of these poor women.. and help them stand on their feet...
