Farmers Share Transformative Experiences Under Jal Sanjivani 2.0 in Solapur

5th March 2025

Farmers and women from project villages in Solapur, Maharashtra, recently shared inspiring stories of transformation at an experience-sharing event under the Jal Sanjivani 2.0 project. Over the past three years (2022–2025), UWM’s support has empowered these communities to adopt modern agricultural techniques and sustainable practices.

One farmer reflected, "I always looked at agriculture as a secondary source of income and relied on a private sector job. Now, after learning modern techniques, agriculture has become my primary source of revenue.” Stories like these highlight the positive impact of Jal Sanjivani 2.0 on livelihoods and local agriculture.

Lighting Up Lives: Solar Home Lighting for Maldhari Families in Gir Forest

4th March 2025

We provided solar home lighting to 173 Maldhari families residing in the Gir Forest. The Maldharis, traditional pastoralists, face daily challenges due to the lack of electricity and other basic amenities. This initiative aims to make their nights safer and daily activities easier, bringing much-needed light and hope into their lives.

Additionally, UWM is supporting a ‘revenue village’ within the forest by installing solar streetlights and providing solar electrification for the local school and Anganwadi. These efforts are not just about lighting homes, they are about empowering communities, preserving cultural traditions, and ensuring brighter futures for children and families in one of India’s most unique forest communities.
