"I have been working here since 1968. A neighbor of mine Farida Khatib told me about Ms. Kamila Tyabji. After meeting her, I joined the tailoring department and took care of the centre for 3 - 4 years. In 1987, Ms. Tyabji bought this land and the WIT centre was built in Panvel.
When my husband was sick and my children were young, my stitching money helped me take care of all household expenses. Today my children are educated and happily married because of the loans I got from WIT. WIT has given me a lot of support ." |

"I joined WIT because I wanted to work. I told them I could do any kind of work. Starting with a salary of Rs. 75/- today I earn Rs. 2,000/- a month with which I help my family.
The trustees and my co-workers here are very good. I love my work." |

"I heard about the WIT centre and the courses offered from an uncle of mine. Initially I joined the toy making course and simultaneously learnt Marathi language. Thereafter my teachers have been extremely supportive and encouraging.
My family is going through a rough phase financially but after doing the nursing course from here I got a good job opportunity to work with a private health firm and am getting a good salary." |

Case Study 5 :

"A few years back in Sawle, a village in Maharashtra had almost nil medical facilities and a low level of literacy rate. One of the families took a bold step and sent their daughter to the WIT Nursing School . They soon realized the value of education both socially and economically. Today, 10 girls from the same village have graduated from the WIT Nursing School . All are employed and regularly conduct camps in their community as well as in the surrounding villages." |

Case Study 6 :

"Ms. Mangala Patil had successfully passed the WIT Nursing course and was employed with the Municipal Corporation. Soon after, she got married and gave birth to a physically challenged child. Thereafter she was tortured by her husband and thrown out of the house. As she was qualified and held a Nursing Certificate she managed to get another government job. Today, she has purchased a house and is managing to look after her child. Thanks to her Nursing training, she is now independent." |

Case Study 7 :

"Prabha Chopde came to WIT from a remote village. She was staying with her brother and sister-in-law who made her do all the household work and did not allow her to study further. Her brother helped her to apply for the Nursing course at WIT. But her sister-in-law followed her to WIT and demanded that the authorities not grant her admission. But she was selected and helped during the 1 and a half year training. Today, she is happily married and well settled at her new job at a private nursing home." |
