Expansion of the WIT Food Processing Unit
WIT is committed to manufacturing and supplying premium quality food preserves made and packed under hygienic conditions. Only fresh fruits are utilized. Therefore, production is seasonal. No artificial flavors and colors are used.
WIT follows the Current Good Manufacturing Practices and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) guidelines.
WIT produces 34 different varieties of jams, marmalades, jellies, chutneys, pickles and squashes.
Expansion Plan :
A . Packaging : As the demand for convenience by the consumer is on the rise, WIT needs to provide alternative packaging. WIT best envisage that selling the current food preserve variety in small 10 –15 gm blister packs will increase demand of WIT food products. WIT believes that setting up a small blister packing unit is essential. We request financial assistance in the same. (Annexure 1)
B . Analysis of the Nutrition Value of each of our food products : Today's consumers are more informed and more aware of the nutrition value of a food type. Therefore, the need to analyze the same is essential. As WIT uses only fresh fruits, WIT would like to highlight the Nutrition Value of the products. Assistance to cover the cost of the analysis at CFTRI is requested. (Annexure 1)
The above expansion will enable the organization to promote WIT foods as highly nutritive food product and expand customer base. Thereby, increasing sale of the WIT food products so as to sustain the activities of the trust.
