Women being trained at WIT Nursing School
  

WIT was established in the year 1968 with the motto of “Helping Women Help Themselves". In a year on an average WIT impacts 250 women through their vocational and income generation programs.

WIT endeavor to :

  • Provide free training and employment opportunities to unskilled and underprivileged women, drawing them into mainstream economic activity.
  • Create awareness on issues pertaining to women.

Over the years WIT has grown into a multi faceted centre which provides many vocational courses to women.

PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES

Vocational Programme

  • Provides training in Block/Screen Printing, Tie & Dye, Card & Toy Making, Food Processing.
  • Women are employed at the Production center in Panvel.
  • Items made by women are marketed at the 3 WIT outlets – Mahim, Tardeo & Panvel. Exhibition and Sales are organized to market the products.
  • Food processing items are also sold through retail outlets and export orders.

Nursing School

  • Residential, accredited program, nominal fees charged from the needy.

Balwadi

  • Marathi & English Medium
  • Over 70 children enrolled in the Balwadi's
Day Care Center
  • Started in 2003 to help poor working women from the Panvel area
  • Currently 25 babies are taken care in the center
  • 6 qualified staff members to run the center.
