| 1. Who are United Way volunteers? |
United Way volunteers are a diverse group. They come from all walks of life, all working backgrounds, ages, educations and countries. But they all have one thing in common – a vision to make the world a better place and United Way is that vehicle.
So you may be a student looking for work experience, a corporate employee who wants to take time out to give back to the community, a development worker who wants to engage in the Indian NGO sector, or anyone who wants to work hard to make a difference and change India for the better.

| 5. How long can I volunteer for? |
Volunteers are advised to work with United Way for a minimum of 6months. Students wishing to volunteer with United Way in their School Holidays, or Student placements – please email volunteer@unitedwaymumbai.org to see what student placement vacancies are available.
| 6. (International Volunteers) What will my living costs be? |
Mumbai is an expensive city with some of the highest real estate prices in the world. However, you really can live as cheaply or as extravagantly as you wish. Mumbai caters to all budgets.
The below budget costs are based in $USD over a time period of 6 months. Please note they are approximate costs. *Note $USD1 = $43 Indian Rupee

| 7. (International or Interstate Volunteers) Were will I live? |
United Way can assist volunteer with accommodations depending on the duration of their stay.
| 8. Will United Way pay for my airfare? |
No. Unfortunately United Way Mumbai does not have the resources to pay for its International or Domestic Volunteers Airfares.
| 9. (Foreign International Volunteers) What sort of Visa should I get? |
Please check with your local consulate on visa requirements for your country of origin.
United way will support you in getting a visa with official visa letters to aid the visa process.
