60 students conduct due-diligence on 30 NGOs
United Way Mumbai prides itself in carrying out a fully comprehensive due-diligence analysis of any NGO to which it gives funds.
However trying to service so many needy organizations can take a very long time for an overstretched small NGO.
In September 2005, 60 students from HR College came into United Way's office and divided up the responsibility of conducting the due diligence groundwork for 30 NGOs between themselves.
This meant visiting their respective NGOs and sitting with staff in order to gather together all the necessary information required. Once they had done this work, they came into the United Way office and compiled comprehensive reports which were subsequently used by the United Way team to make decisions about funding for these NGOs.
The entire process took 3 months and at the end these students had put together an information base that is proving to be tantamount to the progress of our relationships with our partner NGOs and their corporate donors. Read More |
