We are continuously recruiting volunteers from India and around the world. You can come and join the United Way team and help us continue our important work. United Way Mumbai relies significantly on volunteer support from all backgrounds whether they are a University student or a Senior Manager at a Multi National Corporation. In the Year 2006 we look towards having up to100 volunteers who will work with us on various projects as the United Way co-team continues to remain small.

United Way is a corporate oriented NGO, which means that we engage the Corporate Community in creating sustainable community development. United Way is a fast paced, dynamic and stimulating environment, with a passionate team of employees and volunteers. We work at a hectic pace, but have an exciting time promoting United Way. Most of all we have fun!

All volunteers are given the opportunity to engage with NGO work in significant depth. They are exposed to the business side of trying to develop communities. This means that for instance when the Tsunami happened, we had a lot of volunteers who wished to come and help us clear debris, build schools, dig wells and just interact with the traumatized victims.

Sure, we need that too, but United Way in Mumbai recognizes that most of our volunteers bring an ability to think, strategize and lead the United Way-NGO partnership. Which means we do a significant amount of due diligence with NGOs we are working with, and assess their capacity building needs. All of which is what you would be doing.

Given the corporate orientation of our work, volunteers are given the opportunity to work with some of the largest corporations in the world and learn about the workings of these institutions. Our board of Corporate Executives hail from prominent Indian and International Corporations and volunteers sometimes have the opportunity to engage with them as well. United Way Mumbai is just over 3 years old and in that time we have grown exponentially. United Way of Mumbai was selected out of 3000 United Way Chapters in 47 countries, as one of the 6 United Way 's that United Way International will focus on a Major Gifts Expansion program. This is a significant honour and testament to how much United Way Mumbai has achieved in its first 18 months. We have 20 Corporate Partners, which we hope to expand to 50+ in 2006, to work together with our NGO partners to create real change in India - The sky is the limit – but we need your help!
