| “I had recently read in Robin Sharma's - "Who will cry when you die?" about a quote "When a baby is born, others rejoice and the baby cries.....one should aim to lead a life whereby when you leave this place, others will cry and you rejoice". When i quoted this during Shibani's presentation to the COE team, I did not realize it then but is sinking in now. This initiative really allowed me the pleasure and privilege of doing something to contribute to our community and to be able to change, in whatever small manner, the way things will work out for some child or some patient..... am impressed everytime i come across such initiatives and the level of commitment and perseverance on this project was overwhelming.” |

| “The experience gained was one of a kind. This was the first instance for me to visit such isolated locations where basic human necessities are a struggle to obtain, especially when these areas are at such close proximity to Mumbai known as the financial capital of the nation. The people from the 2 villages we visited were warm, friendly and receptive to our queries regarding their lives. I appreciate the efforts which have been undertaken by United Way and Bridge to help these people to overcome their difficulties and become self resilient. I would like to continue to be a part of such camps and many more community service activities undertaken.” |

Bank of America Commits $10 Million |
|
15 March, 2001 - The Bank of America Foundation today announced $10 million in grants to United Way of America in support of Success By 6® initiatives across the country. The grants, which are the third phase of a $50 million commitment, are the largest the Foundation has made and one of the largest corporate grants in history to the United Way.
Success By 6® is a United Way initiative that focuses on strategies to ensure all children under the age of six start school ready to learn. The needs for supporting children vary from community to community, and research suggests that investing in early childhood development contributes to success throughout a child's life.
"Success By 6® is the clearest example of how United Way, the business community and other key partners work together to secure a brighter future for our children," said Ken Lewis, president and COO of Bank of America. "Very simply, few things are more important than ensuring that every child enters school ready to learn."
United Way of America Names Bank of America as 13th Annual Spirit of America Award Winner
December, 2000 - "Bank of America has shown what a company can do with a top to bottom commitment to community involvement," said United Way of America President and CEO Betty S. Beene. "Bank of America has applied solid business practices to raising resources and motivating volunteers to help thousands of nonprofit organizations which build stronger communities for all of us."
