“Citigroup is a worldwide partner of United Way and in Mumbai we have spearheaded the United Way charter by being the first company in India to kickstart payroll giving. We have 50 of our employees signed up and are now in process of rolling United Way Payroll Giving on a national basis.”
- Sanjay Nayar, CEO, Citibank (Payroll Giving 2004)

“UPS & United Way share a commitment to build stronger communities and support the efforts of local nonprofits. For more than 2 decades, UPS employees have donated their money and volunteer time to help improve the lives of others. We are a proud United Way partner and support its ongoing efforts”
- Evern Cooper, President of the UPS Foundation and Vice Presidents of UPS Corporate Relations

“I had recently read in Robin Sharma's - "Who will cry when you die?" about a quote "When a baby is born, others rejoice and the baby cries.....one should aim to lead a life whereby when you leave this place, others will cry and you rejoice". When i quoted this during Shibani's presentation to the COE team, I did not realize it then but is sinking in now. This initiative really allowed me the pleasure and privilege of doing something to contribute to our community and to be able to change, in whatever small manner, the way things will work out for some child or some patient..... am impressed everytime i come across such initiatives and the level of commitment and perseverance on this project was overwhelming.”
- Shirish Damle, Head of Global Customer Service, e-Serve

“The experience gained was one of a kind. This was the first instance for me to visit such isolated locations where basic human necessities are a struggle to obtain, especially when these areas are at such close proximity to Mumbai known as the financial capital of the nation. The people from the 2 villages we visited were warm, friendly and receptive to our queries regarding their lives. I appreciate the efforts which have been undertaken by United Way and Bridge to help these people to overcome their difficulties and become self resilient. I would like to continue to be a part of such camps and many more community service activities undertaken.”
- Percy Patel (BOA employee, Day of Caring)

Support United Way Mumbai Now

“On behalf of UPS our appreciation to your team as well for making it possible for us to be part of the community activity at Hamara Club. It was indeed a learning experience for all our people and I'm sure every one of them enjoyed giving a little of their time towards this activity. We look forward to moving in the direction of a caring society within our community and appreciate all the help and guidance United Way Mumbai can provide in making this possible. Once again we take this opportunity to thank United Way and assure of our continued support in line with building a caring community.”
- Thomas Matthew, MD UPS (Days of Caring, 2005)

“Personally for me it was an overwhelming experience to be part of the sea of humanity with so much goodwill being exchanged. United Way vikings were really cute. They really cheered us up. They were with us throughout. When they started cheering us on our arrival and started shouting: 'Bombay Dyeing' suddenly the feeling of belongingness to the company shot up.”
- Aruna Jain, CSRP Head, Bombay Dyeing

“DOW India team enjoyed the participation in Mumbai Marathon. More so, it was for the cause. We were impressed by the United Way's level of professionalism and commitment. Looking forward to working with you all in future as well.”
- Rakesh Chitkara, Director Public Affairs, Dow Chemicals (Marathon 2007)

Colgate Palmolive (India): Colgate Reigns Supreme!
Ranked as the ‘Most Trusted Brand' in India... Also Ranks As the Most Generous One!

Colgate-Palmolive Ranks as the Highest Monthly Payroll Contributor in the First Six Months of 2004

There is a good reason why Colgate-Palmolive brings smiles to people's faces and why Colgate ranks as India's most trusted brand. The generosity of the Colgate team who has supported United Way Mumbai is unparalleled.

Colgate-Palmolive had the largest ever gathering of over 200 people who attended the very first United Way Payroll Giving meeting to be held at Colgate, which was a part of their “Intercom” (a forum where the MD shares his perspective) day function in April this year. Mr. Dalziel, Managing Director Colgate-Palmolive who also was the first to pledge and support United Way also stated that the company would match the employees contribution.

This record of the largest audience gathering was further outdone when the Colgate team members pledged the highest payroll giving contributions till date making Colgate-Palmolive the highest monthly Payroll contributor in the first till today.

Generosity in kind happens when there is generosity in spirit. There is good reason why Colgate consistently smiles its way to the top ! We at United Way thank Colgate-Palmolive for their generosity and look forward to partnering with them in helping brings smiles to more and more faces.

e-Serve ENABLE Week 1700+ Employees Raise 26Lakhs in One Week

e-Serve created a milestone in the history of corporate giving in India in Nov. 2004.

e-Serve is one of the leading BPO's in India, providing high end financial services processing including call center services to Citigroup entities globally. Over 1700 employees across 13 offices in India participated in the e-Serve Employee Giving program raising over 26 Lakhs in one week to financially support United Way partner NGO's.

These 1700 employees pledged a part of their monthly salary to the e-Serve Enable Initiative which is a fund created by e-Serve to be utilized toward ‘Developing the Next Generation’.

"Developing The Next Generation"

This is not the next generation of software or BPO MIS but "Developing the Next Generation" is an initiative designed to focus on the next generation, which is about 4 feet high, walks on two legs and has a heart and mind but perhaps little direction for its future.

e-Serve will use its Enable Fund to focus on building schools and partnering with NGO's that provide care, support, education and vocational guidance for India's next generation.

Kelloggs: Fastest on Community Caring Initiative!
Rolls out Payroll Giving on the very first day of meeting United Way

United Way made a presentation to the MD and the senior management team at Kellogg’s on 4th November 2004. After having given a 100% and enthusiastic listening to the United Way presentation, the senior management team along with the CEO launched into a lively discussion on how to partner with United Way and support its activities. It was finally Reggie Pai, Director of Operations who said “since United Way is already here, why don't they meet and re-present their presentation to all our employees”.

We could not believe our ears! We had thought Colgate-Palmolive having given us the opportunity to address all 200 of their employees within the first month of meeting their senior management of the company as well as Bates India introducing United Way to all their employees within a week were one of the quickest turnarounds in corporate India.

But here was Kellogg’s - they had enthusiastically decided to go forward and introduce their employees to what they termed as a ‘wonderful initiative' within an hour of United Way Mumbai having met them for the first time.

How does one say thank you to a group of people who believe in you and then enthusiastically put all their support in the quickest manner behind you.

Words cannot convey the spirit of generosity, caring and enthusiasm that we saw ‘Thank You Kellogg’s!’

What a day! What a team ! What a Diwali Present! May Kellogg’s keep going from strength to strength.
