Impact:

Rahim Khan, a fruit seller used to fall sick weekly. He went for tests and his dreams came crashing down when he came to know that he is HIV+.

Intervening in Rahim's case was not an easy one. He lived in an area where hygiene was never heard of and people didn't know what being HIV+ meant. It was important to create awareness and inform them about universal preventive measures used for HIV/AIDS. We started with one to one counselling with Rahim. It was necessary for him to understand the disease so that he could take control of his life. Rahim started attending our Support Group Meetings. CCDT motivated Rahim to get his wife Huma tested for HIV. Huma was also HIV positive. CCDT continuously supported them through nutrition support, counselling and psycho social support.

Huma gradually recovered and now apart from taking care of her own family also sells snacks. Rahim leads a healthier lifestyle and now, works in a Hand-work design firm.
