The Vasantha Memorial Trust was founded on 4th December 1993 in memory of Mrs. Vasantha. It is on a mission since then to see that today's cancer affected emerge victorious with adequate treatment & ensure that initiatives are taken today to make tomorrow cancer free & possibly never.
724 lives have been touched directly & thousands indirectly. The bulk among those directly supported are children with leukemia & we are happy that a good chunk of them have reached the cure line. Its care begins with early detection followed by prompt uncompromised optimum treatment & ends with rehabilitation of the cancer affected back into the community as a useful citizen.
The children & youth of the country have been inspired, educated, urged & given the know how to make tomorrow cancer free.

Fund Usage:
We intend taking up 50 women with breast cancer till stage II. And we also would be taking 25 children affected with blood cancers from the funds to be collected this marathon.

From the proceeds of last year's Marathon we could take up a few children affected with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) in KEM hospital & token sponsors to many were taken up at Tata Memorial Hospital. At our centre in Chennai, we took up a new patient with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) for treatment sponsorship. |
