About NGO:

Population First is a NGO working on population and health issues within the framework of women's rights and social development. We believe that population is not an issue of numbers alone. Numbers are but a manifestation of poor social development and lack of access to health and contraceptive services. Across the country, fertility is highest where social development is low and gender inequality is high.

Population First is a communications and advocacy initiative for a balanced, planned and stable population.

Laadli project: population first's laadli - Mumbai's girl child initiative Is a comprehensive communications campaign combined with action Programmes to address the issue of the falling 0-6 age sex ratio of Mumbai. Laadli aims to develop a model communication campaign that Would address the core social values that promote sex selection And male preference in society by building public opinion and Promoting community participation for stopping the practice of sex Selection in Mumbai for which these funds will be of great

Laadli- the girl child campaign initiated by population first Emphasizes on correcting the falling sex ratio in the country by Creating a positive image of the girl child. The campaign focuses on Communication and advocacy by creating a people's movement. The campaign has succesfully engaged the media(print/ electronic/ Advertisement) in interospecting about its own social commitments, Sensitizing them on gender issues and elicited communication Support. The campaign has reached the youth through the existing Curricular and co-curricular activities to build life skills that Would enable them to redefine gender equations in a more sensitive Manner.
