About NGO:
SHARE is implementing developmental projects in six, two and two talukas of Raigad, Ratnagiri and Thane Districts. In the year 2003, "The International Year of Fresh Water", partnerships were forged to bring like minded organizations together to address the need for Rain Water Harvesting. A participatory approach of all the concerned parties - the entire village community ( shramdaan/unpaid voluntary labour, land, knowledge of village water sources ), the NGO - SHARE ( infrastructural support, monitoring ), the technical support team, and the donor organization, has been advocated for rain water harvesting projects. SHARE with its strong base of professional social workers and para professionals has employed various social work intervention strategies to address the issue of shrinking water resources. Through a process of community participation and self help, SHARE has provided water to 110 villages As SHARE has envisaged, making water available is proving to be the entry point to integrated village development. It is snowballing into improved unity amongst the villagers, improved agricultural practices, second cropping; possibilities for women to experiment with individual and collective health, sanitation, solar energy, credit and developmental issues. SHARE also runs a livelihood program for mentally challenged youth in Mumbai city.
