About NGO:
SPINA BIFIDA FOUNDATION [SBF], formed by medical professionals and parents of SBF who have been involved in the care of SB patients in India for more a decade. It aims to improve the quality of life for those living with SB. The group takes active interest in problems such as schooling, ease of access, legislation, employment etc. The group has helped patients to get the correct Medical treatment, also lectures to diverse groups like Rotary club, Lions club, and also young women from elite Mumbai colleges to the Dai community to create awareness about SB and its prevention. It has organised Medical Updates on SB and its managment for doctor community. SBF seeks to increase public awareness of children, young people and adults with SB / Hydrocephalus. It aims to secure provision for their special needs. It aims to support all those affected to identify their needs and to empower them.

Fund Usage:
The Fund received from SCMM will be utilised for the Foundation "Nationwide SB awareness and Prevention Campaign" to be started next year. The campaign will comprise of : SB prevention and awareness programme in each state of India which will include:- 1) Free multi disciplinary health checkup and counselling for SB patients. 2) SB CME programme for Doctors. 3) Public meeting for SB Prevention with screening of film. 4) Establishment of Parent Support Group of SB in each state. 5) Arranging for subsides / free medical care for needy patients.
