The Epilepsy foundation is a Nonprofit Organization for the cause of patients suffering from Epilepsy.
Epilepsy (Fits) is a disease of Brain where person looses consciousness for few seconds to few minutes. There are over 1 million people suffering from this disease in India and it can stuck at any age, however it is more prevalent in younger population. There are lots of myth & taboo around this disease. The disease is chronic and disabling requiring very long treatment and some time lifelong therapy. Many new drugs and surgical treatment are available but few doctors know about that and very few centre in country have this facility.
Epilepsy Foundation dedicated solely to the welfare of the millions of people with epilepsy in the India and their families. The organization works to ensure that people with seizures are able to participate in all life experiences to improve how people with epilepsy are perceived, accepted and valued in society and to promote research for a cure.
The Epilepsy Foundation was established in 2009 as the Epilepsy Foundation
Free Epilepsy Clinic has been started in 1992 with the aim of helping the poor and needy patients, suffering from epilepsy and not able to consult a doctor for a regular therapy. From 2000 onwards Free Epilepsy Clinic has moved to Surya Neuro Center every Tuesday at 1 p.m.
Regular camps for detection and treatment of this disease is been held in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Rajasthan so far.
Fund Usage:
We are the First have First NGO to have PIP with NRHM (Govt. of Maharashtra) in Epilepsy to Create awareness across Maharashtra & treat the Patient by doing Rural Camp.

In these camps a team of Neurologist, Neurosurgeon along with councilor, EEG technician and social workers participate, Free EEG are done and all patients are given free medicine for months. We intend to spend the money to help these poor patient by raising funds.

Free epilepsy detection & treatment camp-1
Venue - Civil Hospital, Oras, Sindhudurg, MaharashtraDate - 26th June 2011
The Free Epilepsy detection & treatment camp was organized by Epilepsy Foundation India in association with the National Rural Health Mission(NRHM).
The camp was held at the Civil Hospital Oras, Sindhudurg Dist, headed by the Hospital Civil Surgeon Dr. R. S.Kulkarni. The camp was initiated at 1100hrs & ended by1730hrs.
The entire team of Neurologists was brought in from Mumbai & Goa.
A total number of 120 Patients from all the neighboring villages attended the camp and their entire data was recorded for future reference.An EEG room was set up as well and 27 Patients' EEG were recorded by the technicians for further treatment.
A two member team of clinical Psychologist & Counselor from Mumbai was also present to evaluate & educate the Patients & their relatives about the disease and its management.
A free epilepsy medicine distribution was also arranged in the camp and the patients were given free medicines for the entire month.
There was a street play organized by the Epilepsy foundation under the supervision of Dr.Nirmal Surya for the awareness of Epilepsy which helped to give a clear view to the Patients & their caregivers about the myths & facts surrounding Epilepsy.
