About NGO:

The War Wounded Foundation was incorporated in August 2002, with the intention of creating long-term avenues for the financial independence of all War disabled personnel of the Army, Navy and the Air Force. There are nearly 30,000 War disabled personnel in our country, scattered in different parts of India. On account of the heavy involvement of the defence forces, especially the Army, in major counter-insurgent and counter-terrorist operations in many parts of the country, there is a constant addition to the number of such personnel. The War disabled hail from all states and union territories. The work of the War Wounded Foundation is thus on an all-India basis.

The Aim of War Wounded Foundation is to ensure that War disabled persons become productive citizens by participating in the economic development of the Nation, besides being able to supplement their meager income from pension, thereby leading a comfortable and respectful retired life.

The War Wounded Foundation is looking forward to dot the country side of the Nation with self sufficient, enterprising, diligent, honest and satisfied ex-servicemen with added skills, who continue to do their bit for 'Nation Building' and prosperity of our Nation.

Fund Usage:

  1. Training of War disabled persons to man product outlets in and around their villages.
  2. Training of war disabled in computer applications, spoken English & becoming Insurance salesmen.
  3. Increasing the area of outreach visits to UP, MP and southern states for motivation of war disabled.
  4. Personal visits and correspondence with Ministry of Defence, Service HQs, CDA Pensions and DPDOs in District HQs besides interactive session with disabled soldiers in their native villages to address the problems brought out by them.

Impact:

One such case is that of Naik Dharamveer of village Jaisinghpura, PO-Sultana Ahiran, Distt-Jhunjhunu(Rajasthan), who got disabled in 1990 due to loss of his right eye and left hand in enemy action in Kupwara (J&K). On his contacting War Wounded Foundation, he was motivated to start a small soldier entrepreneur. War Wounded Foundation arranged outlet of Usha Electricals for him in his native village and since then he is earning around 15000/- per month over and above his meager pension.
