Disaster Response Fund: TN Floods Dec 10th 2015 Status Update

Over 3 million have been affected by the Tamil Nadu floods, with a death toll of around 500. The NDRF and the Defense forces have done a remarkable job rescuing more than 20,000 people stranded in flood affected areas. With the waters receding and rescue operations almost complete, thousands will now need humanitarian assistance, both in urban and rural affected districts of Tamil Nadu.Many villages in Kanchipuram and Cuddalore district were entirely cut-off and in need of immediate relief supplies. 199 relief centers were set up, accommodating 57,672 people. Water, Sanitation and Hygiene remain the top priorities to prevent outbreak of diseases.
