MASTEK DAY OF CARING 2006

Mastek Day of Caring is a day in the year when employees and their families have the wonderful opportunity to step out of office and interact with an NGO supported by them.

On 20 th May, 2006, United Way of Mumbai had organized The Mastek Day of Caring 2006 at Sharanam Centre (an NGO supported by Mastek) involving Mastek volunteers & family

The day began with a brief introduction provided by United Way on the concept of Day of Caring and Ms.Sharada, the in-charge of Sharanam Centre on the background of the girls seeking shelter.

ART WORKSHOP (Warli Painting)

Warli is a tribe living near the Thane district of Maharashtra, famous for the typical art work they exhibit. This has been popularly named the Warli Painting.

Ms.Uma Banerjee taught the girls and the volunteers this art by first introducing them to the background of the Warli tribe, then a rough Warli drawing, followed by 2 slightly advanced Warli paintings.

Movie Screening

On popular demand from the children, it was decided to screen the movie “Life ho to Aisi” in the afternoon from 3 pm – 6 pm.

.. Highly fascinated by a laptop! Engrossed in the movie…

Arrangement for a laptop with a DVD player, projector, speakers and a white screen was made to screen the movie at the Centre itself.

With this the day came to an end… thoroughly enjoyed by the girls … Mastek Volunteers…and United Way .

This was first time I had been for such an activity. I really looking forward for more such activities, it was a pleasure.

Ganga P. Karthikeyan

This is the first time I have been involved in an activity like this- it is really nice to assist the children in drawing, giving instructions as well as at times being instructed by them! It gave my wife and me immense satisfaction at the end of the day.

Anup Kiran

It was an amazing day and I compliment United Way on the great way that they are doing.
