I have been a CMCA Volunteer for the last 6 years.At CMCA we try and bring about an attitude change in the younger generation and create civic awareness.This we achieve by taking weekly sessions in schools (Classes 7 and 8 ).We also conduct outdoor civic awareness programmmes like beach clean up after the Ganpati festival in Mumbai,promoting a pollution free Diwali,anti-litter campaigns in Schools, Building societies and localities.In short we teach children to be aware of civic issues in their localities ,to lodge a complaint with the BMC and to follow up to get the problem fixed.We also teach them to be disciplined and responsible citizens who follow traffic rules ,do not encourage corruption and bribery and report child labour.
