Tata Mumbai Marathon 2024

On 17th Jan 2016, I will be running the SCMM & while I’m looking forward to the fun and excitement of the run I’m extremely privileged to be representing Karunya Trusts “Gyansaathi project” for its fund raising activity to educate rag-picking children from Mumbai’s largest dump yard in Govandi To get a first-hand understanding of the Gyansaathi project I visited the school last weekend and interacted with the teachers & children Here’s a brief of the activities that are underway 1. Informal education to 500+ children. These children are coached to get certified on NIOS-National Institute of Open Schooling 2. Adult literacy and Computer education 3. Other forms of Vocational training viz Mehendi, Tailoring, Candle making and other life skills 4. Counseling for the kids and parents to make them independent and responsible citizens It was a treat to witness the passion, enthusiasm and sincerity the kids demonstrated in approaching their learning activities. I felt a very strong breath of positive energy whilst at the center. Since its inception in 2011, Project Gyansaathi has rebuilt several lives and given wings to hundreds of dreams. The Gyansaathi project runs on donations which are used to provide meals, study materials and books to the students besides all the activities as mentioned above. I appeal to you to contribute and add hope to the lives of these wonderful children. Donate by clicking the “Donate Tab” on the right Thank you for your support Raul Rebello
