Isha Vidhya currently runs 9 schools in two states namely Tamilnadu (TN) and Andhra Pradesh (AP), educating nearly 6500 rural children, most of whom are first generation school goers. Over 60% of these students are supported through scholarships, while the rest pay a nominal fee. The first batch of Class X students appeared for their Board Exams in March 2015, from 7 schools. Not only did they achieve a 100% result, the highest score was 98.8% and the average score was 89.6%. Given the background of these children, this was clearly a milestone. This has been made possible with support from many donors such as yourself Based on the experience gained and success in the Isha Vidhya schools, Isha Vidhya began to carry out critical interventions to improve the quality of education in rural Government schools. Currently over 500 Government schools have been adopted in TN and AP, impacting over 72000 children. Isha Vidhya is run by a very large volunteer base, that ensures a low cost of fund raising (<5%). This ensures that every rupee / dollar you donate is put to effective use.
