Gyansaathi a friend of child rag pickers… Gyansaathi supports children living in Rafik Nagar… the slum near Govandi dumping ground which is one of the Asia’s Largest Dumping Ground. It is poverty-stricken, crime-riddled place where there is lot of domestic violence, addictions, rapes and incest taking place. There is scarcity of food and water, and these children live in a very poor condition of houses.Gyansaathi provides holistic development and non-formal education to the kids from Rafik Nagar. These kids have an eagerness to study, to move forward and to earn their rightful place in society. Gyansaathi try their best to transform their lives and bring them out of their poverty. The Project focuses on rehabilitation and empowerment of 550 rag picking children and their families. Impact- 17 students passed their 10th Std in June 2016 and now continue their college education. This are the first generation of children from the Basti to achieve this feet.
