Dear Friends, I am raising funds for Karunya Trusts Gyansaathi project which works in educating the Ragpicking children’s from the Govandi Dumpyard. Over the last few years Karunya trust has rebuilt several lives and given wings to hundreds of dreams. Below is the message from a child //Quote Although, I come from Mumbai, the city of Dreams, I’ve always lived in realities that couldn’t be harsher for a nine year old girl. Living on the edge of the Asia’s largest dumping yard, my nine member family was much closer to realities, making me wonder what dreams are? Young and confused, when I was only coming to term with my fate as a slum girl or should I say a rag picker or whatever destiny could lead me to, a stranger came by. My Mom did not make it easy for him, she would not allow him anywhere around our hut, but he was a persistent man… Today however, I have a different story, as if Gods have heard my remote aspirations.(Thanks to that stranger, who is now fondly known as Salman Sir) I now believe that dreams do come true, even for a slum girl.
