The objective of Isha Vidhya schools is to make quality education accessible & affordable to the rural poor. Currently, Isha Vidhya runs nine schools in Tamil Nadu & Andhra Pradesh. These schools currently have 6415 children, with approximately 60% of the students on free education, supported by donations under a scholarship program, while the rest pay a nominal fee. 2015-16 could be a landmark year as they are hoping to complete critical infrastructure that includes classrooms, compound walls, school buses, computers & sports equipment, aggregating about Rs 2 Crore via the Mumbai Marathon.This will ensure that all major infrastructure needs of the schools are completed by this year. In the current year, Isha Vidhya needs to build eleven classrooms, procure nineteen school buses, provide for scholarships, and support the fifty-six Government schools that have been adopted. In addition to this, approximately 700 new children get admitted every year, that require scholarships over and above the existing students. Isha Vidhya schools are largely run by volunteers, and hence the cost of fund raising is very low (<2%). Every Rupee that you donate will be put to effective use. With the support of generous donors like you, I have been able to touch the lives of a few children, who would otherwise have been deprived of that one chance of a decent living. And in doing so, I have found the purpose of this small, yet wonderful journey called life.
