With an aim to offer quality education that is accessible and affordable to the children in rural communities,the wave started off with Isha Education's initiative in India,especially in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.More than 6000 children are riding the waves of change,60% of them being supported by a scholarship programme which counts on hearty donors and the rest pay a very nominal fee.Going beyond academia,efforts are aimed at a holistic well being of a child by including several skills in the curriculum,such that as graduating rural youths they are equipped to handle all life situations. 2015-16 could be a landmark year as we are hoping to complete critical infrastructure aggregating about 2 crore which includes classrooms,compound walls,school buses,computers and sports equipment through Mumbai marathon.Once this is completed,next year onwards we can focus on growing the Govt School Intervention programs quite significantly or building a new IV school in a new district. In the current year, Isha Vidhya requires to build 11 classrooms,19 school buses, provide for scholarships and support the 56 government schools that have been adopted.In addition to the above,approx 700 new children get admitted every year who require scholarships over and above the existing children. Isha Vidhya schools are run largely by volunteers and hence overhead costs are negligible.This ensures that every rupee one donates is put to effective use. Join the chain...the joy of giving.
