An excommunicated widow who is now a successful business owner. A 10-year old girl who persuaded her abusive, alcoholic father to go into rehab. A girl in our eighth grade class who dreams of going back to her home town and changing it from the ground up. A dropout youth who became a high scorer and a proud graduate. VIDYA makes stories like this happen! VIDYA is a 30-year old NGO based in India that aims to provide a support structure to children and young adolescents from low income and at-risk backgrounds within their community which serves as a rallying point to keep them engaged in education. WHERE WILL YOUR FUNDS GO? Cleanliness, substance abuse, sanitation, physical and mental well-being, financial stability of the family or awareness of legal rights - each of these aspects impacts the life of each individual deeply. While school contributes towards scholastic development of an individual, community is where the individual develops holistically. I believe that our educational intervention would be incomplete till we work on the factors surrounding our beneficiary and that's where the community development plays a major role.
