This year, I am participating in the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon on 17th January 2016 and am excited to support The P.R.I.D.E. India, a sister organization of Save The Children India, founded by Mrs. Vipula Kadri! Since 33 years, it has impacted lives of marginalized communities in rural India through education, child rights, livelihood, health and women’s empowerment.
As a supporter of equal education, I encourage innovation in the way education is imparted in rural areas. Children, especially those from remote areas, have little exposure to the world and all its possibilities. Hence, we must endeavor to create the best environments for them to learn and grow into better and informed citizens.
As we all know, the classroom method of teaching is uninteresting for students and they soon lose interest in learning. The P.R.I.D.E. India’s education programs, however, address the learning needs of all children including those belonging to tribal and migrant communities.
This year, at the marathon, I will support the noble cause of equal and inventive education in rural areas. At The P.R.I.D.E. India, emphasis is on providing holistic education through visual and activity-based pedagogy. This helps the students learn faster and retain the concepts longer.
