Jai Jawan Jai Kisan ("Hail the Soldier, Hail the Farmer")
Becoming a farmer or a soldier is something that most of us don't even consider as an option while growing up. In the last few years, with the increasing number of farmer suicides as well as terrorist attacks around the globe, the importance of these two professions has become very evident. So, I decided to have my first ever fundraiser dedicated to support farmers and soldiers.
1. 'Under the Mango Tree' is an NGO that helps farmers diversify their income by low-cost bee-keeping. Not only do bees provide them with an alternate source of income (honey), they also help in pollination thereby increasing the overall agricultural yield.
2. 'War Wounded Foundation' supports those heroes who got injured fighting for the nation. Once the wounded soldiers are out of service, they have very limited job opportunities.
3. 'Rang De' is an organization which helps us invest in rural entrepreneurs. It gives loans to low-income groups at a minimal rate of interest preventing them from going to private greedy money lenders who charge them an exorbitant rate. This helps them pursue their dreams and scale their businesses.
If you can connect to any of the causes, please donate! On a personal note, it is always difficult to run a marathon despite an extensive training regime. My goal is to raise 1000 INR for every km that I run and with a little help from you, my dear friends, well-wishers and supporters, I will get there. Cheers!
