While I stopped at a traffic light, a girl about 6 came up to beg. She was quickly distracted by the sheet of dust on my window, and used her finger to draw. She drew a home. That was 12 years ago. My life changed forever. The girl deserved a home, a school, a playground, parents, friends, ... a childhood. Instead, she was forced to beg, perhaps a future of child labour, even rape. Through CHILDLINE, I pursue my passion of bringing some of our street children closer to a home, a shelter, and a more promising and human future. ONE CALL TO 10-9-8 CAN TRANSFORM A DISTRESSED CHILD'S LIFE. CHILDLINE listens and responds to the most vulnerable children who express their worries and concerns. CHILDLINE is India’s first and largest 24 – hour, free, emergency phone outreach service for children in need of care and protection. Any concerned adult, or a child in need of help can dial 1098, the toll free number to access their services. They not only respond to the emergency needs of children but also link them to services for their long-term care and rehabilitation. YOU can make a difference in the lives of children in need of Care and Protection, so that more and more children can be rescued from dangerous, exploitative and demeaning life situations and be rehabilitated. With our busy schedules, the least we can do is make a monetary contribution - which will be help CHILDLINE in achieving our collective desire to make a difference in the lives of street children.
