Some of you know I am an above knee amputee and many of you don’t. 20 years ago when I was in college, I was diagnosed with a form of bone cancer. I underwent several cycles of chemotherapy and surgeries, till I eventually opted for an above knee amputation. It took me a while to cope with an altered body and its limitations. It was also emotionally tough to deal with the changes. But I was aided by my parents’ faith in me & a firm belief that the amount of things I could still continue to do, were more than what I couldn't any longer. My personal experience has made me realize acutely how challenging it is for others who are struggling with disability and do not have the support I had.
The Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon is on Jan 18, 2015 and I am participating in the Dream Run for the 3rd consecutive year. I am doing this to challenge myself & to raise funds for ‘NASEOH’ (National Society for Equal Opportunities for the Handicapped), a Mumbai-based NGO, that has been working to rehabilitate + educate people with disabilities from underprivileged backgrounds since 1968. I am aiming to raise Rs 3 lakhs/$4900 and I cannot do it without your support. Please partner with me by clicking on the ‘DONATE NOW’ button and share this link. Every little bit helps. 100% of what you donate goes to NASEOH. Donations are eligible for an 80 G tax exemption from United Way Mumbai.
THANK YOU for choosing to help a person with disability ACHIEVE INDEPENDENCE in every sense!
