We all recall the story of the little boy who decided to save at least one Starfish.. from the many who were dying.
I reciprocate the feelings of the little boy when i chose to sponsor one child called Bhavadharini (student code SGP SGP0478/11 ]since her L.K.G. She is now in 2nd Std. in Coimbatore. Her father is a daily wage earner and each day without a job would lead to Bhavadharini leaving school.
My gesture to that girl was a dedication to all women who are childless, single unwed mothers who can experience being a foster parent to not only one, but as many as they want (depending on the depth of their pocket). I am enjoying it and am overwhelmed to do more.
But what pained me immensely was a sharing my friend made in 2011:
My journalist friend Prajakta Dhulap from IBN Lokmat had shared with me about her learning of around
222 newly born girls named 'Nakoshi '(Unwanted) across Satara district
and I was so shocked to believe it... Today's report in Times of India,
Mumbai has once again made me numb and disturbed --- To think of even one
girl being named Nakoshi is so distressing, imagine what the 222 girls
form Satara being named so... what would they think as they grow up.....
We crib about issues or we say take care and exit, but are we ready to say "
I have taken charge"?? I did.. in a small way. Will you join me?
