Isha Vidhya currently runs 9 schools in Tamil Nadu & Andhra Pradesh. The schools presently have 5820 children, with over 60% of children supported through scholarships while the rest pay a nominal fee. 2014-15 marks a very important milestone for Isha Vidhya schools as the first batch of students will be appearing for Class X examination. The current year is also very critical as the schools need to complete 47 more class rooms and Science Labs for Class XI and XII. This will enable the children continue their studies without compromising on the quality. In addition to the above, approx 700 new children get admitted every year who require scholarships over and above the existing children. Based on the experience gained and the success in the Isha Vidhya schools, Isha Vidhya began to carry out critical interventions to improve the quality of education in rural Government schools. Currently 40 Government schools have been adopted under the Government School Adoption Program. Isha Vidhya schools are run by a very large volunteer base, that ensures a low cost of fund raising (<2%). This ensures that every rupee / dollar you donate is put to effective use.
