We've all needed help doing certain things as children. Maybe it was catching a ball or knowing whether the 'b' faced right or was it the 'd' or maybe writing a 'P' as a '9' which we figured out over time. Now think if we had no way of correcting it and kept making the same mistake without ever having a supportive ecosystem. That is what children with developmental disabilities face from day to day. A number of disabilities, mild and severe, fall under the umbrella of developmental disabilities.
A lot of children go through life without getting any help or remediation making them pariahs in our society, and being labelled "retards" or "slow", mainly because of a lack of understanding on the part of the public and an absence of a support system that helps the children and their families help such children integrate into the mainstream of society.
Ummeed helps countless such children and their families deal with these disabilities. I have been associated with Ummeed for almost 5 years now and have seen up close the difference they make in the lives of these children. Most of these children come from middle and low income groups making it difficult for them to financially sustain their needs. Ummeed offers discounted and free services to such children without lowering the bar on their offer.
To keep this wonderful mission going, I would appeal to each and every one of you to dig deep and support this charity continue the good work. Every penny counts. Please donate generously.
