CHILDLINE 1098 is a national free 24-hour emergency phone outreach service for children in need of care and protection anytime and everywhere. Any child/concerned adult can call 1098 and access the CHILDLINE service any time of the day or night. On receiving the call CHILDLINE responds to children in emergency and facilitates their rehabilitation by linking the child either to the NGO or relocating the child in the family.
CHILDLINE was established in 1996. CHILDLINE is a unique example of partnership between government and non government agencies, street and community youths, academic institutions, the corporate sector and concerned individuals.
Currently functional through a network of 160 organizations in 55 cities of India spread across 20 states Nationally, CHILDLINE has responded to over 4.5 million calls.
