Board Members Indu ShahaniChairperson of the Board Sheriff Of Mumbai Dr. (Mrs.) Indu Shahani, Principal of H.R. College of Commerce & Economics was appointed Sheriff of Mumbai on Jan. 5, 2008 and is now serving in her third term. Dr. Shahani has led Sheriff's delegations to interact with premier institutions and universities to UK, Europe, USA, and several other countries worldwide. She has over three decades of teaching experience at the college and university level where she has played the lead role in nurturing future leaders. Dr. Indu Shahani is the first Indian to be appointed Vice-Chair on the Board of the Governors of the International Baccalaureate. Dr. Shahani holds a PhD in Commerce from University of Mumbai on enhancing Academia- Industry linkages. At the University level, Dr. Shahani holds key positions at the Academic Council, Faculty of Commerce and Board of Studies in Business Management. As Director, Academics of Hyderabad (Sind) National Collegiate (HSNC) Board, she is responsible for enhancing academic standards of 29 educational institutions managed by the HSNC Board in Mumbai. Dr. Shahani is a Visiting Faculty Member at the UC Berkeley, NYU Stern, USA and she is aLead Speaker at various conferences in India and abroad. She has received many awards, prominent among them are 'Citizen of Mumbai Award' by Rotary Club of Bombay, 'Woman of the Year Award' by Junior Chamber International and 'Excellence in Education Award' at the FLO Great Women Achiever Awards. Dr. Shahani was awarded the Honorary Doctor of Letters degree by the University of Westminster in London in 2009. |
Sunil MehtaCountry Head and Chief Executive Officer, AIG India Mr. Sunil Mehta is the Country Head and Chief Executive of American International Group, Inc. India since 2000. He is responsible for all AIG businesses in India covering Insurance, Financial Services and Investments. Mr. Mehta has provided strong leadership in setting up AIG's insurance JVs and responsible for expanding AIG's presence in other areas. Prior to joining AIG, Mr. Mehta worked with Citibank for over 18 years where he held various senior positions. His last assignment was Corporate Head in India and Senior Credit Officer. In addition to his various Board responsibilities in Tata-AIG and AIG Companies in India, Mr. Mehta is Chairman and Founder Trustee of United Way India, Chairman of Action for Ability Development and Inclusion (AADI), Founding Member and on the board of the Asia Society Mumbai and past Chairman of AMCHAM, India. Mr. Mehta graduated from the University of Delhi with Hons. in Bachelors of Commerce. He is a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He is an alumnus of the Wharton School of Management, University of Pennsylvania. |
Sunit Mehra Managing Partner Hunt Partners, India Sunit heads Hunts' Private Equity practice across Asia, and is a Founder Managing Partner of the firm. Sunit started his search career with Horton International, a high-end executive search firm in the US in 1996 and later moved to India to head Horton's India operations. Sunit has worked with a large number of corporate boards and is an advisor to several Indian business houses on Corporate Governance. He has co-authored the India Board Report, India's foremost research paper on Corporate Governance, in conjunction with the CII. He was previously the Managing Director of Omni Business Machines Ltd, a telecommunications product manufacturing and distribution company. Sunit is a Founder Trustee of UWM and in the past, Sunit has been the Chairman - United Way of Mumbai, Vice Chairman - American Chamber of Commerce, Mumbai, and Treasurer of the Wharton Alumni Association of India. Sunit received a business degree in marketing management from the Wharton School, and also a degree in engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. |
Mihir DoshiManaging Director and Country CEO Credit Suisse, India Mr. Mihir J. Doshi is Managing Director and Country CEO of Credit Suisse, India. He joined Credit Suisse in April 2006 and is based in Mumbai. He is a member of the Asia Pacific Management Committee, the Asia Pacific Operating Committee and the Emerging Markets Council. He has been instrumental in re-establishing Credit Suisse's India franchise, which today is active across Private Banking, Investment Banking and Asset Management. He has been deeply involved in strengthening the overall business profile of the Bank in India and in providing its strategic direction. He also oversees the 2 Centers of Excellence in Pune and Powai from a country management perspective and ensuring the delivery of qualitative off-shore services to the various regional offices of Credit Suisse globally. He is actively involved in Credit Suisse's human capital and corporate responsibility initiatives and is a member of the Managing Director Evaluation Committee (MDEC) and the Asia Pacific Philanthropy Committee. Prior to this, he spent 22 years at Morgan Stanley in various capacities primarily in New York, Tokyo and India. His last position was Managing Director and CEO of JM Morgan Stanley Securities Pvt. Ltd. and is credited with building Morgan Stanley's presence in India. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) from The New York University and a C. P. A. from The New York State. Mihir Doshi is one of the Founder Trustees of United Way of Mumbai. He also serves as trustee of the NGO Save the Children India. |
S.K. MitraChairman QSK Advisory Pvt. Ltd. Mr. S.K. Mitra is currently on the Board of several reputed companies in diverse industries as an independent Director. He is actively associated with several international NGOs, Committees and Chambers in India. Mr. Mitra was instrumental in setting up the Merchant Banking Divisions of Bank of India in 1977 and then in 1978 for Standard Chartered Bank in Mumbai. In 1985 joined American Express Bank as the Head of Corporate Banking and Investment Banking in India. In 1990, Mr. Mitra set up the GIC Mutual Fund, sponsored by the Government owned General Insurance Corporation of India. In June 1994, he joined the Aditya Birla Group as Director, Financial Services and was responsible for setting up the highly respected and successful financial services activities for the Group. The Group is one of the early multinational conglomerates from India with worldwide revenues exceeding US $ 30 billion. He has been on the Board of Aditya Birla Management Corporation Ltd, the supervisory Board of the Group. Pradeep PoddarManaging Director and CEO Mount Everest Mineral Water Ltd. Pradeep Poddar is a Chemical Engineer from UDCT Mumbai and an MBA from IIM, Ahmedabad. A veteran of the consumer goods industry, he groomed himself as a fast track executive in Glaxo foods, Heinz and now Tata. He became the first Managing Director of Heinz for India and South Asia in January 1996 at the age 41. In 2000, he was ranked in the top 5 percentile of North American Executives by Personnel Decisions International, New York. Pradeep led Heinz successfully for nearly a decade by creating a robust and sustainable business platform. He established the Heinz Nutrition Foundation India and was awarded the prestigious Udyog Ratna award by the Karnataka Government and Wisitex Foundation in 2001 for his distinguished contribution to the food industry. Pradeep has played a strategic role on the Board of Monsanto India from January 2006, and is a Trustee and Board Member of United Way of Mumbai. |
Anjali BansalManaging Director Spencer Stuart Anjali Bansal is managing director of Spencer Stuart's Indian business, which she was instrumental in establishing. Homi R KhusrokhanBoard member Homi Khusrokhan is a Commerce Graduate from Bombay University and a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and a M.Sc. (Econ.) from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He worked for 29 years with Glaxo & Burroughs Wellcome in India and retired in 2000 as Managing Director of both companies. He then joined the Tata Group as MD of Tata Tea Ltd. on a 3 year assignment and then moved to Tata Chemicals Ltd in 2004. He retired as MD of Tata Chemicals in December 2008. After his retirement from the Tata Group, he now serves on the Boards of several companies in a non-executive or advisory capacity and is presently a Vice President of the Bombay Natural History Society. In February 2009, he was appointed a Special Adviser to the Government-appointed Board of Satyam Computer Services Ltd. to assist with the turn-around of the company and the induction of a new strategic investor. |

Secretary Jayanti ShuklaExecutive Director - United Way Mumbai Jayanti Shukla joined United Way of Mumbai in October 2008. Jayanti began her career with the New India Assurance Co. Ltd, a multinational insurance company, and was Regional Manager at the company's Delhi Regional Office. She then moved to the private sector, joining IL&FS Investsmart as Vice President for corporate and insurer relations. After over 25 years in the corporate sector, a move to the not for profit sector beckoned. Jayanti works with various social organizations in her spare time and has been actively involved with a number of civic and social causes. She is the founder trustee of the Celebrate Bandra Trust which organizes the hugely popular Celebrate Bandra Festival, a biennial feature which showcases the culture and heritage of the suburb. She is also the founder trustee of BRAVO, a trust involved in a number of civic and locality based issues including implementation of projects like Rain water harvesting and Solid waste management.
