Capacity Building is Key for Direct Service Providers

United Way of Mumbai's Management Assistance Program (MAP) provides comprehensive, customized, free consulting services that strengthen the management capacity of Mumbai's nonprofit organizations to effectively address human care needs. Working individually with nonprofit organizations, MAP provides sustained multi-year support on a range of management issues, improving their ability to deliver quality services. Throughout, MAP is focused on achieving measurable improvements in participating organizations' service quality, client access to services and efficiency.

MAP services focus on the specific needs of each nonprofit organization requesting assistance. Our staff works collaboratively with consultants who partner with nonprofits in three project phases -- planning, implementation and evaluation -- allowing MAP to facilitate and monitor each nonprofit's progress over time. In addition, MAP evaluates the contribution of management assistance to performance outcomes to ensure the program is helping improve the agencies' ability to serve people.
