Organizational Overview

Hope Foundation is a voluntary service organization working for the integrated development of the rural poor.
  

Program Description
Children
Hope Foundation aims at providing basic relief and amenities to the deprived children:
  • Child survival programme
  • Asharan orphanage
  • Malnutrition control programme in Delhi
  • AIDS Home of HOPE and child care
Education HOPE foundation has been running:
  1. Nursery and primary schools
  2. Non-formal schools, education and tuition centers
These schools aim to provide free education to the children affected by poverty, calamity or child labour.
Health
In the year 2006, close to 200,000 people were touched directly through our healthcare initiatives:
  1. Primary health clinics, leprosy clinic
  2. Tuberculosis control programme
  3. Cancer detection programme and HIV/AIDS Targeted Intervention programmes
Senior Citizens An old age home for poor and destitute women was started in April 2003 in Kochi accommodating 11 women at a time.
Employment

With the aim to empower young men and women through short-term courses that will lead to their getting sustainable jobs. The taught courses include:

  • Computer training
  • Sewing training
  • Electrical repair training
  • Beauty culture school Masonry training
 
United Way Supported Projects

In the aftermath of the Tsunami, Hope Foundation & United Way of Mumbai, began a process of reconstruction of lives affected through the following programs:

Case Study
Guddu, 3 years

Guddu is a three year old female child who was admitted to Asharan Orphanage on 10 th April 2006. Found wondering on the streets by police officials, Guddu narrated that her alcoholic father used to mistreat her reason unknown to her. When she was brought to Asharan she had multiple bruises on her body. She could not extend her left arm and bad burn scars on her thigh. After one such violent episode, her father chased her out of the house. At Asharan, Guddu has recovered with the help of medicines and with lot of love from the staff. She is cute, talkative and one of the most joyful children the Orphanage has ever had.
