Isha Vidhya, (www.ishavidhya.org), is an initiative by Isha Foundation of Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev. It provides high quality school education to rural children who cannot otherwise access or afford it. Isha Vidhya's English-medium schools open the door for rural children to successfully pursue higher studies and gainful employment.
Currently, 9 schools are under operation in villages in the districts of Coimbatore, Erode, Nagercoil, Tuticorin, Villupurum, Salem, Cuddalore & Dharmapuri, Tamil Nadu and Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh, catering to over 5200 students. About 56% of the children are on full time scholarships. In addition, Isha has also adopted 32 rural Government schools in the districts of Coimbatore, Dharmapuri and Salem, to improve the quality in these schools through various interventions.
The holistic, activity-based approach nurtures children's development beyond just academics, ensuring that students realize their full potential and learn in a joyful environment.
The schools are presently operating up to the 9th Standard (except the new schools in Chittoor and Dharmapuri where the children are studying up to Class 5 and 6 respectively). Classes would be added every year as the children progress to the 12th Standard.
For the coming year, the schools have a large budget requirement of INR 96 Mio (USD 1.5 Mio) for adding infrastructure, providing scholarships and funding the Govt. schools adoption initiative
The project is managed by a team of dedicated volunteers that ensures low cost of fund raising and effective use of your contribution. Your contribution will help bring about a change to the lives of a whole generation.
